Tea Bag Queen Endorses Gay Rights Campaign

This is stunning news, if it is true.  The situation is that Michelle Bachmann, who has the reputation of being against gay rights, attended the RightOnLine conference in Minneapolis the other day, entering the room to the music of Katy Perry.  Not just any Katy Perry song, but “Firework,” which is dedicated to Dan Savage’s It Gets Better Project, and is about victims (think bullied gay teens) becoming victors

No, this cannot be a mistake on the part of Bachmann’s campaign, which is run by God himself.  The only interpretation that can possibly be made is that Michelle Bachmann has gotten a message from God herself that gay and lesbian citizens are “as good as you.”  Rumors that Bachmann received her revelation while in a bowling alley are still being checked out.  Check back often to her wiki page for updates.

Meanwhile, Matt Taibbi, risking his reputation, is not buying the Bachmann change of heart and is warning people that Michelle Bachmann can be a formidible candidate, evidently not underestimating the stupidity of the American people one little bit.  And Bachmann has still not confirmed that her husband is himself gay (he is yet to be caught in a St. Paul airport restroom), and Bachmann herself cowered in fear of being abducted by a lesbian and a nun just a week before.  As such, I’ll take all this news with my tongue resting firmly in cheek.

In other news, Sarah Palin has resigned from her bus tour after completing just over half of her term, and before visiting the states of New Hampshire and Iowa.  She was last seen in the state of confusion, though others claim she’s returned to Alaska.

  1. Whether or not her husband is gay (I haven’t heard that particular rumor), her stepsister most definitely is and was beyond offended when Michelle called gay people “barbarians” a while back.

    Family values my ass.

  2. I just hate the use of the phrase “tea bag” to refer to anyone associated with the Tea Party movement.

    1. Zach, I’m not much of a fan of “teabagger” either, but I’ll come to Steven’s defense and say that I will stop calling them teabaggers when they stop calling me a “libtard.”

One of them is admittedly juvenile, the other one is patently offensive to the mentally disabled and their families.

        1. Tea Thugs?

As to “Tea Bag,” the history of the use of the term shows that conservatives on Fox were the first to use the label, then the Tea Partiers played it up for about a month, until they looked at the urban dictionary dictionary. Then they whined about others calling them that. So, it was a self-identifier for a while, now something the Tea Partiers whine about.

          1. I understand that Fox News started using the phrase to describe tea partiers, but still….given the sexual connotation, I just cringe every time I see that.

          2. I think that’s a bit of revisionist history – in particular, the idea that no tea partiers knew the slang mean until they looked it up is pretty out there, but whatever. I’m not a tea party guy, though I’ll admit that I did agree with a lot of the philosophies early on.

About the term – just like I tell my kids, I don’t care who started it… Guess I should expect more from adults than my 6 & 9 year old, but honestly I don’t. The term is crass and classless just like libtard and other similar trash and says much more about the person using such language than the groups being labeled.
