  1. It’s too bad that presidential politics have changed so that someone who wins the nomination is one and done if they lose and that no one runs against the sitting President of their own party. I am not feeling inclined to support Pres. Obama at this point.

  2. He never existed. Anyone who believed he would bring true change are fooling themselves.

Spoilers: I did not vote for Hilary, because while she was slightly more liberal, she was still the same cookie cutter politician. Mike Gravel would have brought real change to the system to be honest.

That being said if Feingold ever ran for President (fat chance as he said to me once, as he pointed out to me that he was Jewish. ) I would probably vote for him. That being said – I think he’d be better on the Supreme Court with his strong sense of justice and following the law.

  3. There’s something interesting in what he’s saying there, that with hindsight allows us to look at it in a completely different way than the message it conveyed on the surface, and is a great foreshadow. Notice he’s saying “I’ll put my shoes on and walk with you”. Not “I’ll use my authority to do something about it”. It really does exemplify his time in office. Always quick to tell us “I’m with you and I hear you”, but of course poor on follow through and quick to sell us out when it comes down to brass tacks.

It comes down to the fact that he’s an “I’ll get in line and walk with you” * kinda guy, which is not a leader. Because he’s a poor leader. He’s the really smart and likable best friend you go to for advice, but not the one you go to to get things done.

    * – recognizing the context of this post is that he hasn’t even followed through on that literal promise. But I’m looking at the proverbial, not the literal.

    1. JCG, thanks for your comment.

The video I posted above sums up precisely why I don’t believe I’ll be able to support President Obama for reelection in 2012. When push came to shove and it was time for President Obama to live up to the promises candidate Obama made, he fell far short.

President Obama didn’t “get in line” and walk with us; hell, he didn’t even bother to fight for us using his bully pulpit. Instead of fighting he watched from a distance as Republicans stripped away collective bargaining rights from over 100,000 public employees in Wisconsin.

      I can’t forget that, and I won’t forget it come November 2012.

  4. I have to disagree with you guys. I still think President Obama is a leader, i also will gladly support him and be first in line to vote for him in 2012. While i have been disappointed numerous times, can you just imagine what the US would look like had Mccain/Palin won?

I dont think anyone would ever accuse bush of being a leader yet he served 8 years. President Obama is still polling as the most popular politician in America today and its become increasingly difficult to beat a sitting president.

As for what happened, I would say its simple Rahm Emmanuel, Ben Bernanke, Larry Summers, etc…

The one most important reason that President Obama has to win is the Supreme Court. Do we want people like Sonia Sotomayor or do we not take it serious and get people like John Roberts/Clarence Thomas appointed for life?

    1. As for what happened, I would say its simple Rahm Emmanuel, Ben Bernanke, Larry Summers, etc…

All of whom were appointed by President Obama. If you blame them, you have to blame President Obama, because they were all hand-picked by President Obama.

Oh, and unless you’ve got some polling showing that President Obama is the most popular elected official in the country I’m not buying it.

  5. He sold out the American people…there are only 536 people who are feeling good about this.
