Roys announces candidacy for Congressional seat held by Baldwin

Yesterday Democratic State Rep. Kelda Helen Roys announced her candidacy for the Congressional seat currently held by Democratic Rep. Tammy Baldwin. Rep. Baldwin will not be seeking reelection to Congress representing Wisconsin’s 2nd district, as she announced she’ll be running for the United States Senate in 2012.

Roys is the second Democratic State Rep. to announce a run for the seat currently held by Baldwin, as State Rep. Mark Pocan announced his candidacy for the same seat. The Democratic primary is likely to decide who will represent Wisconsin’s second district in Congress, as that district votes heavily Democratic.

In announcing her candidacy for Congress, Rep. Roys said she was a “bold, energetic leader with a progressive vision,” while Rep. Pocan cited his reputation as an “adept legislator who can bridge Wisconsin’s political divide to win progressive victories.”

  1. I almost feel guilty being part of the 2nd congressional district when we have so much talent (im not sure who i am endorsing yet) and the 1st cong has been stuck with paul ryan.

This also speaks to what we have covered before here, the dems have alot of homegrown talent ready to run and the repubs have kim simac/david vanderleest/chad lee.

The only way the repubs can gain control in Wi is to stop people from voting and gerrymander the districts…..
