Mary Lazich to hold hearings on roundabouts but not jobs

Fresh off her efforts to make it harder for Wisconsinites to vote, Republican State Sen. Mary Lazich is tackling an issue of vital importance to Wisconsinites….

No, the issue isn’t not jobs, because Sen. Lazich and her Republican colleagues in the State Senate and State Assembly have clearly solved all our state’s jobs woes. After all, our state has seen months of job growth and a declining unemployment ra…..oh wait, scratch that, because Republicans like Mary Lazich have actually done a piss-poor job of helping create jobs in Wisconsin.

The issue Sen. Lazich wants to hold a public hearing about is much more important than jobs….it’s traffic intersection roundabouts!

From State Senator Mary Lazich’s E-Newsletter:

As Chair of the Wisconsin State Senate Committee on Transportation and Elections, I have scheduled an informational public hearing October 6, 2011, at 1:00 PM about the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s usage of roundabouts. The hearing will begin with a presentation by the Department of Transportation.

Senate District 28 has roundabouts and there are plans for more roundabouts.

Jobs? Totally not a priority!

Traffic roundabouts? A huge issue that warrants public hearings!

  1. Roundabouts are so quaint! I love them. They seem a fine topic for Republican micromanagement. . . not to say micromanagement is good, mind you.

  2. Roundabouts are efficient and effective in traffic management. I do, however, understand why “ole school marm Mary” wants hearings on roundabouts. Many of her New Berlin constituents don’t understand the difference between stop signs or yield signs. HINT: one is a triangle!

  3. All she has to do is link to the DOT website. There is a plethora of information available to all. For those who do not have access to a computer, contact your local library.

I love roundabouts. Not only because they are efficient, but just think of all the construction jobs required for the installation of them in this state.
    Hooyeah!

Ms. Lazich, Get crackin’ on the jobs, ok? Leave the roundabouts to the DOT, eh?

  4. Personally, I’ve never understood why people are so opposed to roundabouts. Perhaps they’re lazy drivers or they simply don’t know how to follow traffic laws, because roundabouts are pretty common sense.

    1. It’s mostly because a lot of drivers often don’t pay attention to others in them. Aka, how someone might pull out in front of you even if you’re paying attention.

I haven’t seen it much, but my grandparents have had that issue. Some people don’t check to their left before they go and that can lead to some crashes. Luckily the confusion is starting to go down now.
