Just remember, it was Scott Walker who gave Tim Russell control over the money Russell embezzled

For proof positive that then-Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker gave control over Operation Freedom and the monies that event had raised to longtime aide Tim Russell, in the process giving Russell access to the money he eventually embezzled, let’s take a look at the Memorandum of Agreement signed by Walker and Russell.

Just remember….if Scott Walker doesn’t give one of his longtime aides and “most trusted confidants” access to Operation Freedom’s funds, we likely wouldn’t be talking about Russell having been charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor for embezzlement of money donated to help military families.

This is the seedy underbelly of crony politics in all its rotten-ness.

  1. Really? So every time an employee steals from a business, it’s the business owner’s fault? Every time a teacher or secretary takes money from a school, it’s the principal’s fault?

Anytime someone commits a crime — the fault doesn’t lie with the person who committed the crime, but the person who hired or supported or advocated them, right?

Because criminals never lie, never ever cover up the fact they’re, you know, criminals. Never ever attempt to fool anyone in their pursuit of criminal behavior.

    Good to know.

  2. Just an aside, those are awfully minimalist signatures- do they think the calligraphy adds cache? or do they both know someday they might need forgery plausibility for anything they sign?

  3. The problem is the existence of this “veterans event” itself. It was not about people in the service. It was about the political career of Scott Walker. Actual veterans were not allowed to speak, instead ceding time to Charlie Sykes and Scott Walker so they could serve as cheerleaders for the Iraq War. The entire enterprise was rotten from the start-not merely Russell’s alleged embezzlement. And why Walker gave him fiduciary responsibility AFTER he knew that Russell had stolen from WHEDA in much the same way is a question Walker must answer.

  4. Following your logic, George Washington should be held responsible for Benedict Arnold. How about some of the unsavory Chicago associates of Barack Obama? Is he responsible for them? Work out another line of thinking.
