National economy adds 200,000 jobs, unemployment drops to 8.5%

While Republican Gov. Scott Walker and his Republican allies in the legislature have failed miserably to create jobs here in Wisconsin, a fact borne out by five consecutive months of private sector job losses in Wisconsin, President Barack Obama seems to have the national economy on the right track:

Employers added an estimated 212,000 private-sector jobs in December, significantly more than expected by economists. It was the largest increase in three months and the fifth-best month since the nation’s economy turned the corner in early 2010 and began adding jobs after the longest and deepest downturn since the Depression. It was the best year for workers in the private-sector since 2006.

Maybe Scott Walker should call President Obama and pick up some job creation tips.

  1. Part of me wants POTUS do the State of the Union with giant charts behind him showing the (slow but steady) growth in the economy and the decline in the unemployment rate. I am so sick of hearing GOP candidates cry about how things have never been worse when that is just a bald-face lie.

  2. I know, I know…but it seems that people need simple visuals to counteract all the misinformation out there. Especially Faux News audience – the simpler, the better.
