Run, Lori, Run

John Nichols has a great piece in todays Cap Times making the case that Lori Compas should run for state senate against Scott Fitzgerald. I couldn’t agree with him more.

In fact, I would argue that in spite of the impressiveness of the 1.9 million signatures delivered to the GAB by recall volunteers from across the state, what Compas and her merry band of cohorts accomplished really stands out. Think about it for a minute.

With little experience and, initially at least, no help from either United Wisconsin or the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, Compas organized teams that spread out across Fitzgerald’s district to gather signatures. It’s my understanding that when it became clear Compas and crew were on pace to collect the signatures necessary to trigger an election the DPW jumped in to help put them over the top. And at the press conference on signature delivery day Compas told reporters that the RecallFitz team was preparing to get deputized in order to do voter registration.

So who should run against Big Fitz in the upcoming recall election? Lori Compas, no doubt. After all, she’s already won their first debate

  1. Yes! I couldn’t agree more, Steve! Rather than sitting around talking about how getting enough signatures couldn’t be done, Lori just did it; she’s a woman of action. I’ve had many great interactions with her, and I can tell that she really is a woman of integrity.
    She’s The Anti-Fitz.
    Thanks for your post!
