Newark Mayor Cory Booker rescues woman from fire

I’ve heard of politicians “taking decisive action,” but this is incredible…

Mayor Cory A. Booker of Newark, N.J., rescued a woman trapped in a burning house Thursday night and carried her to safety.

Booker was treated for smoke inhalation at a local hospital and released. He also suffered second-degree burns on his hand.

  1. You beat me to it, Ann Stevning-Roe. In this case everybody escaped unscathed from as mindless assailent: fire. What Mayor Tom Barrett did was quite a bit more ballsy. He intervened in an armed assault that involved a man with a pipe. It’s worth noting that Barrett saved the first victim from all harm, but in doing so he became the second victim. Barret suffered injuries from being struck by the pipe, and also broke his hand while fighting back. Now that’s my idea of public service!
