Recall Memo: June 5: Walker Tenure as County Exec Troubles Sheriff Clarke

On May 20, 2012 the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ran an article discussing Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke’s desire to outsource maintenance work at the Milwaukee County Jail. The Sheriff contends that it takes too long for county personnel to respond to requests for any type of maintenance including things as simple as changing light bulbs.

Well, Sheriff Clarke, maybe your light bulb should come on when you consider your support for then County Executive Walker and his budget cuts (to every thing but the Sheriff’s Dept, but that’s another story). When you drastically reduce staffing levels you don’t get the same levels of service you’ve maybe become accustomed too?

Of course then you have an excuse to ‘outsource’.

Let’s not repeat this error at the state level! On Tuesday June 5th, the choices are clear:

  1. He should be more concerned with his spokesperson receiving immunity in the John Doe probe than light bulbs. Why doesn’t he follow Walker’s method and use prisoners to change the bulbs, or is that only for Christmas Tree bulbs?
