Emerge Wisconsin names new board members, raises money

From my email inbox comes this…

Madison – Emerge welcomes 3 new members to the Emerge Wisconsin State Board – Emerge Alumna and County Board Chairwoman Tara Johnson (La Crosse) Class of 2010; Alumna Margo Miller (Portage) Class of 2009; and Alumna Lashell Drake (Brown Deer) Class of 2012.

“We are excited to have Tara, Margo and Lashell join our board, especially as alumnae from three different classes. As Emerge Wisconsin continues to expand and train more Democratic women to run for office, these three women bring strong leadership to a growing organization.” Bethany Ordaz, Emerge Wisconsin Board Chair

In addition to the three newest members, current Emerge Wisconsin board members include: Carousel Bayrd – Class of 2009 (Madison); Amanda Cone (Baraboo); Sharon Corrigan (Middleton); Rachel Currans-Henry (Madison); Noelle Joers-Yanisch – Class of 2010 (Greendale); Bethany Ordaz (Madison); Jenissee Volpintesta – Class of 2009 (New Berlin), Annie Wacker (Milwaukee) and Paula Zellner (Porterfield).

“It is an honor to be asked to serve on the board of Emerge Wisconsin. As the first Emerge Alumna from the Seven Rivers Region, I have been proud to encourage more Democratic women from La Crosse to participate in this outstanding training program, including my fellow Emerge alums, State Representative Jill Billings and La Crosse County Clerk Ginny Dankmeyer. I look forward to working with the Emerge board and Executive Director to continue increasing the number of Democratic women running for office all across Wisconsin.” Tara Johnson

In related news, Emerge Wisconsin has announced their 50% club for supporters who want to help them work towards 50% women representation in elected offices across all levels of government.

We recently launched the 50% club!  Members of the 50% club are supporters who give a monthly contribution to Emerge to help get us closer to 50% representation at all levels of government.  It’s easy to sign up! Just go to our contribution page, click the amount you want to give per month and then click on the monthly contribution.  Simple as that!

What amount does it take to be a 50% club member? Any monthly contribution of $5 or more will get you in the club and all 50% club members will be promoted and thanked on our new website!

Emerge does great work, and it’s an organization worth a contribution.
