Sikh tragedy remembrance set for 2 p.m. Thursday

A remembrance for the victims of the Sikh Temple tragedy in Oak Creek will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 9, in the Fireside Lounge in the UWM Union, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd. The event, being organized by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Division of Student Affairs, will include comments by UWM Chancellor Michael Lovell and the opportunity for attendees to share thoughts and reflections along with those speaking during the program.

“We will be hosting a university gathering to create a campus conversation, honor victims, and show solidarity with those in the Sikh community,” said Michael Laliberte, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

He said the division will be creating a program that includes community and campus resources, and with information about how to contribute to a fund that supports the victims of the shooting. Those attending will be invited to write remarks on cards that will be delivered to the Oak Creek Sikh Temple.
This event is open to the public. Click here to access the FB event page.
