Writes Steve Schultze of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about soon-to-be convicted felon Kelly Rindfleisch, who served as Scott Walker’s deputy chief of staff during his time as Milwaukee County Executive:
“She also frequently communicated with key members of Walker’s staff for his gubernatorial campaign, including campaign manager Keith Gilkes and deputy manager Stephan Thompson, during time she supposedly was working at her county job, the complaint says.”
So if Kelly Rindfleisch “frequently communicated” with key members of Walker’s gubernatorial campaign staff, how can anyone reasonably believe Scott Walker had absolutely no idea what Kelly Rindfleisch was up to?
If Scott Walker really had no knowledge of what Kelly Rindfleisch was up to just 20 feet from his County Executive office, then he has to be the most oblivious and idiotic human being on the face of the planet.
Of course, there’s always the more likely scenario that Scott Walker knew full well about Kelly Rindfleisch’s criminal behavior and simply turned a blind eye, only to lie about what he knew when scrutiny was brought to bear.
Personally, I’m inclined to believe the second scenario, which makes Scott Walker a liar of the highest order.
B.
If Scott manages to wiggle out of all this, I’m looking forward to reading the MJS endorsement for his second term as governor.
That’ll be a hoot!
You forgot option C; Walker made this happen and was an active participant, even the leader. This is the most likely scenario.
Perhaps this was even a WIGOP wide assault on democracy and Rindfleisch will take down Preibus and other WIGOP heads.
BTW, is Davis culpable for Rindfleisch’s work for him?
“The buck stops at the top.”
Walker, in addition to being a liar, is a coward allowing an aide to pay the penalty for his lack of leadership and courage.
With Rindfleisch taking a plea deal, she avoids going through a public trial, so she and Scott Walker won’t have to suffer the shame of testifying to help Rindfleisch weasel out of her crime. Rindfleisch also has to cooperate with the prosecuters for future trials, if she’s possibly called as a witness to testify for the Russell trial–and more importantly, the Scott Walker trial.
Lying while under oath during testimony is called perjury, an offense which leads to jail time.
You are right when you say Scott Walker is either of the two possibilities you explain above. Although I’ve never thought Scott to be the sharpest tool in the shed, I tend to agree with your assessment that Walker is quite the liar. Trouble for Scott is, the prosecution has him in a box with all this evidence and sworn testimony. If he tries to plead the 5th, that will not impress the jurors to his trial. If he lies to weasel out of what he’s accused of, that’s perjury. Things are looking bleak for Scott Walker.
