  1. It’s not hypocrisy. You can vote against the bill but once it passes, you’re living within that framework. How many Congressmen who voted against the tax cuts refused to take them personally? Or wouldn’t fight to make sure one of their constituents received the appropriate deduction or check from the IRS that resulted from the tax cut, even if they didn’t vote for it?

I wouldn’t expect my Congressman to approve of each and every federal program or grant, but as his constituent I would expect his office to help in how to access that program if I so wish.

    1. Sorry, I don’t consider it hypocrisy either. He took a stand and voted against the bill…which we all anticipated and no one was surprised about. His partisan beliefs were being followed consistently.

And then at the behest of constituents he lobbied for stimulus funds. I would expect any congressman to do exactly that in the same situation…if you are doing your job you are helping your constituents.

What he should be condemned for is denying asking for the funds until he was confronted with the facts and he had to backtrack. He should be proud of supporting his district. But his constituents should be asking themselves, why did he lie about this? And isn’t he proud of the work he did in his district? Until confronted with the facts that answer was NO and NO.

That lie should disqualify him from public office.
