Governor Scott Walker and Abbie Hoffman

I know that many of our readers can hardly wait the remaining week until Governor Scott Walker’s book, “Unintimidated: A Governor’s Story and a Nation’s Challenge,” is publicly released. If you don’t want your anticipation undone, don’t click this link to Bill Lueders’ (Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism) view of the book at Urban Milwaukee…but otherwise he has some interesting things to say about the lies of omission and other vagaries concerning this book. But I digress!

Every time that I hear something about this book, it keeps bringing to mind one of my erstwhile contemporaries, Abbie Hoffman…I don’t know why…except that Abbie was also an extremist in his day, having been a co-founder of the Yippies (or Youth International Party) AND he was also an author. And the title of his most popular book was as self-centered as Gov. Walker’s book…Abbie’s was titled, “Steal This Book”.

Now, I don’t think that the Governor Walker should financially profit from a book of lies, half lies, and imaginary friends…and then I think of Mr. Hoffman’s “Steal This Book”…and well, if you really need to read “Unintimidated”, I’ll let you connect the dots. Yippie!
