Why did Supervisor John Weishan send a mailer to Waukesha County residents when he represents Milwaukee County?

I’m just not sure what to make of this…

Milwaukee County Supervisor John Weishan Jr. is in the middle of yet another controversy this week for a mailing he sent out back in March to Waukesha County residents criticizing a mental health bill.

The bill in question, authored by State Representative Joe Sanfelippo (R-West Allis) and State Senator Leah Vukmir (R-Wauwatosa), strips the County Board of its authority to oversee the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex and gives oversight powers to a board of medical health professionals.

The bill had broad community support and passed in the State Senate 33-0.

A few days before the State Assembly passed the bill 89-1, Supervisor Weishan tapped his County expense account to mail out 13,000 letters to residents in Waukesha County, a move perceived by some as a misappropriation of tax dollars.

According to the report, the letter Sup. Weishan mailed out last month to 13,000 voters in Waukesha County at a cost of $4,700 to Milwaukee County taxpayers was addressed, “Dear 15th Assembly District Residents.”

That just doesn’t pass the smell test to me, especially considering Sup. Weishan recently filed the necessary paperwork to run against incumbent State Rep. Joe Sanfelippo in the 15th Assembly District.
