Watch: The White House’s New Sexual Assault PSA

Watch a new public service announcement posted by the White House as part of the Obama administration’s 1 is 2 Many campaign to reduce the prevalence of dating violence and sexual assault.

Among those featured in the PSA is Vice President Joe Biden, who helped author the Violence Against Women Act, an important piece of legislation that provides funding toward investigation and prosecution of violent crimes against women, imposes automatic and mandatory restitution on those convicted, and allows civil redress in cases prosecutors chose to leave un-prosecuted. VAWA also established the Office on Violence Against Women.

  1. An interesting debate erupted this year within the Feminist community on this issue. The nations largest advocacy organization RAIIN,( Rape,Abuse,Incest National Network ) broke with the Feminist concept of ” rape culture ” in their recommendations to the White House task force on sexual assault. Robert Jensen, progressive academic and self identified feminist has the story.
