  1. If people commit crimes at identical rates, then you have discovered some major discrimination.

    1. Data shows that whites commit crime in identical or sometimes higher rates as well as getting tougher sentences for committing the same crime.

  2. Denis: On thing is sure: If you’re white it’s hard to get arrested for driving while black.

      1. Denis, I’d love to hear you explain why you think it is that Wisconsin locks up more African American men as a percentage of our state’s population than any other state in the country, while our rate of incarceration for white men is on par with the national average. Do you really believe that the reason is because African American men in Wisconsin are more prone to crime than African American men in 49 other states, or do you think it could possible have something to do with bias within our state’s criminal justice system?

        1. No I don’t think we are the most biased state in the US. If I were to seriously look to answer your question, I would look at the # of black kids raised in single parent families compared to the rest of the country. I strongly suspect that our public school system has failed educationally and perhaps more so morally, and this is why I support voucher schools. Perhaps our cops are good at their jobs. Liberal ghettos (as though there is another kind) could also be a factor.

I have often wondered why the left only looks at incarceration rates through a racial lens. Aren’t you supposed to be on the lookout for sexism also? One look at incarceration rates will demonstrate how hopelessly sexist our criminal justice system is. You could even call it a war on men.

  3. I guess it is racist to arrest an African American who is committing a crime. Makes sense. Being black and not committing crimes has been the best way for me to avoid being arrested.

  4. I used to live in Brookfield and never was pulled over. White has its privileges. An African-American friend came to a party we were holding, and was pulled over. No ticket issued, no warning. Nothing. No reason other than ….

To deny that African-Americans are looked at differently by law enforcement is obtuse.

    1. I have been pulled over twice, also no ticket, no warning, nothing. I am white. My car was black though.

  5. Other side… have you ever robbed a convenience store, rigged up a store clerk while high on put then walked down the middle of a city street then resisted on officer. If so you could somehow be considered a civil rights hero…

Stupid people lionizing a punk thug criminal.

    1. Ah, so Michael Brown deserved to be shot and killed while unarmed from a distance of 25 feet?

Last time I checked, we didn’t empower cops to be judge, jury, and executioner, and I don’t remember robbery being a capital offense in Missouri.

There’s no denying Michael Brown engaged in some criminal behaviors, but the argument that those behaviors justified him being shot and killed while unarmed is absolutely faulty.

  6. Roughed up…

People committing crimes are bad. Police responding to a crime good. I tend to believe the police officer who was doing his job over a bunch of lying criminals. Remember they robbed a store and the overwhelming evidence proved the surviving witness was a liar.

The fact that the perps were black doesn’t make them hero’s it makes them black criminals

  7. You’re assuming a lot, chris. No lionizing going on here. Since you find it difficult to stay on point, I’ll leave the stupid to you from now on. Have fun playing with yourself.

  8. Are you saying they were not lying criminals. The criminal himself admitted to lying. First about the robbery then about other details.

  9. Zach: IF you are placed in a situation where a 300 pound 6 foot 4 sustpect is charging you. (which is Officer Wilson’s statement and the statement of several other witnesses). If you knew that you had already discharged your weapon at least twice while wrestling said perp IN YOUR VEHICLE. I wonder what your response would be… Should Officer Wilson have run away? Should he have Surrendered his weapon and possibly lost his life. What should he have done… Remember the entire incident was over in minutes or less. This wasn’t a 30 minute standoff. Please enlighten me how this suspect should have been subdued.

I never stated that he DESERVED to die for the Robbery that he had just committed. I was mearly pointing out the fact that this WAS NO choir boy or Martin Luther King JR. This was a CRIMINAL who RESISTED arrest. DID he DESERVE to DIE in gunfire from an officer of the law? Maybe no. BUT he CERTAINLY was the SOLE reason that he died that day. IF there was no robbery, there would have been no Jaywalking or positive ID by MR WILSON. If there was a law abiding attitude of Yes Officer, I will get out of the MIDDLE of the Road there would have been no scuffle inside of a cop car. IF he had not charged mr WILSON then maybe he would simply be rotting in a jail cell somewhere.

You would have to be insane to think that Officer Wilson started work that day looking to KILL an innocent BLACK MAN.
HOW lucky for Officer Wilson that the black man he decided to kill that day happened to be a THUG armed ROBBER who just finished the crime! Pure chance i guess. hmmmm

    1. If I was alone in a my SUV cruiser and absolutely thought it imperative to confront a huge male, Micheal Brown, as you describe him here (and also a second person, MB’s companion), for simply walking in the street, I would have called for backup and surveyed (that means kept an eye on the two) the alleged perp(s) until help arrived.

Darren Wilson was acting as a clueless macho idiot looking to knock some black heads, assert his piss-ant white privilege and show those uppity blacks who was boss when he backed up, swung his vehicle door open into the alleged perp and already had his SUV window rolled down to begin with. For starters Officer Stupid could have stayed locked in, grabbed his mic and gave them instructions to get out of the street through the vehicle loudspeaker.

Nobody PUT Wilson into a dangerous situation other than Wilson himself. There was absolutely NO excuse for Wilson to have NOT WAITED for backup to attempt to stop a freaking jaywalker and Wilson had no clue about any alleged robbery until after murdering Micheal Brown.

Shoots your whole moronic rant completely to hell. No two ways about that, regardless of whose version of the GJ “testimony” you want to believe. The ALLEGED fight and the murder all took place because of Wilson stupidly putting himself into an EASILY AVOIDABLE dangerous situation.
