Gov. Scott Walker talks about his non-existent master’s degree ahead of presidential run

As he prepares for an all-but-certain presidential campaign in 2016, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is saying even though he didn’t graduate college he’s got a kind of master’s degree — just not the traditional kind you and I might expect.

“I’m like the majority of people in America,” Walker told Hugh Hewitt. “I’m someone who went to college, had the opportunity in my senior year to go and take a job full-time, which was not the only reason I went to college, but one of the biggest reasons was to get a job.”

Then he got married and started a family. “Like a lot of folks in America, you know, your family and your job take the time away from you finishing it up,” Walker continued. “I’ve got a master’s degree in taking on the big government special interests, and I think that is worth more than anything else that anybody can point to.”

Scott Walker is correct in saying that he’s like the majority of people in America in that he does not possess a college degree, and many Americans may find Scott Walker more relatable because of his lack of a college degree. What’s more, while a college degree is not a requirement to be wildly successful in our country, without seeing any polling I’d expect a majority of Americans expect their president to have a college degree. After all, more than showing an aptitude for learning, a college degree demonstrates an individual has an ability to follow through to the completion of a goal.

Ultimately, Scott Walker’s lack of a college degree won’t be his downfall in a Republican Presidential primary, but he’s got plenty of other baggage that will.

  1. I like that Hewitt follows up Gov. Walker’s comment with “That’s a terrific response.” Are you kidding me? What about all of the hardworking people who have families and jobs, but go to school at night to get their degrees? Unbelievable.

  2. It’s not the lack of a degree that’s the problem for Walker, it’s the reason why he lacks the degree (asked to leave after cheating in a school election). It’s also reflective of a guy who’s grifted his whole career with no real intellectual curiosity about the world- his only skill seems to be lying and kissing the right backsides.

And he lies here- if that job was so good, why was he running for State Assembly against Gwen Moore (and losing) a few months later? That’s the problem with being a serial liar, you have to keep on lying and parts don’t match up

  3. Actually, Walker has failed to complete a 1-yr or 2-year degree, bachelor’s degree, training certification, graduate degree, etc. He has not started nor run a business. He has not competed in the private sector against skilled/educated workers and professionals beyond entry-level work. So the pool of Americans he has anything in common with is much smaller than those without a college degree. He apparently lacks the drive, discipline and focus to complete any post-secondary training period. How can he possibly be taken seriously as Presidential (or VP) material?

  4. Walker continued. “I’ve got a master’s degree in taking on the big government special interests, and I think that is worth more than anything else that anybody can point to.”

Worth $Million$ in campaign contributions in his run for POTUS “taking on,” big special interests as his valued partners in his crony capitalist exclusive little world, obviously worth more to Scooter than anything else anyone can point to. Completely worthless to anyone else in state, hitting the poor working families and children hardest.
