Sen. Ron Johnson invites Jonathan Lucroy to State of the Union

Two of my great passions – the Milwaukee Brewers and politics – have officially collided in a big way, as U.S. Senator Ron Johnson has invited Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy to attend the State of the Union address next week.

Brewers All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy is not an elected official, but that isn’t stopping him from attending Tuesday’s State of the Union address.

Lucroy was invited by U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who cited Lucroy’s charitable efforts as the the reason he was invited to President Barack Obama’s scheduled speech.

No doubt Sen. Johnson will take full advantage of the opportunity for photo opportunities with Jonathan Lucroy, who’s far more popular in Wisconsin than Sen. Johnson.

After all, Sen. Johnson has to do something to both bolster his popularity and seem relevant as he faces a tough reelection fight in 2016.
