Wauwatosa Alderman Jason Wilke to run for County Supervisor in 15th district

Last month Wauwatosa Alderman Jason Wilke announced he is running in the special election to fill the vacant Milwaukee County Supervisor seat in the 15th District. There will be a special election to fill that seat after David Cullen was elected as County Treasurer, vacating the seat.

Here’s some background on Wilke.

Wilke has been the 8th District Alderman in Wauwatosa since 2009, when he filled an open seat. He was re-elected in 2012 for a four-year term. As part of the Wauwatosa Common Council, Wilke chairs the Traffic and Safety Committee, and serves on the Budget and Finance Committee, Plan Commission, and Parks and Forestry Board.

Living on the northwest side of Wauwatosa, Wilke said he also has experience working with Milwaukee officials on projects in his neighborhood. He helped found the Park Ridge and Hartung Community neighborhood associations, and helped establish a park at the former Hartung Quarry.

“It has always been important to me to raise my family in a safe and vibrant community,” Wilke said in a statement. “Living in a neighborhood that shares borders with the city of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County’s Menomonee River Parkway, I have worked through several layers of government to make sure my community can utilize all available resources. These experiences have prepared me to serve not only my constituents in Milwaukee County’s 15th District but the residents of Milwaukee County alike.”
