Yesterday Ed shared President Obama’s comments following the mass killing at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, and today I wanted to share a number with you.

986

That’s the number of mass shootings (in which four or more people were shot in the same incident) in the United States since the Sandy Hook mass shooting in 2012. At least 1,234 people were killed and 3,565 were wounded as a result of those 986 mass shootings.

Here’s more on America’s mass shooting problem, courtesy of Vox.

    1. Er,

Why don’t you tell us? Do some of your own goddamn research and tell us. Better yet, come out from behind your anonymous screen name and do a youtube video explaining how we can prevent these massacres going forward. Put out a plan. Quote Wayne La Pierre. Strap on your Kevlar vest, arm up, shoulder some extra ammo belts and give it a go, tough guy.

      1. I did and only 8% of mass shootings have happened in a place where citizens were allowe to carry guns.

        1. So if we all carry guns all the time, everywhere, America will be safer? Is that your crazy-assed solution?

      1. John, I would add a third question:

Why do the mass shootings continue unabated and increasing under a “pro-life” Republican controlled Congress whose recent approval rating, lowest in history, was 13%?

        “Oh the humanity!”
