The fact that Bernie Sanders has raised the vast majority of his campaign contributions from small donors while Hillary Clinton has raised very little from small donors speaks volumes about who their respective campaigns are really appealing to, and it reminds me to the 2007 Democratic primary when an underdog candidate named Barack Obama “upset the apple cart” and ended up beating Hillary Clinton thanks to lots and lots of small donations.

Obviously the 2016 Democratic presidential primary is a different animal than the 2008 primary, but the fact that Bernie Sanders has been able to raise a good amount of money (at least $26 million) with the vast majority coming from small donors demonstrates to me that he’s got staying power in this race.
