Sen Sanders Doesn’t Go Far Enough On Voting

Apparently Sen. Sanders likes the idea being implemented in Oregon and California that provides citizens with automatic voter registration!

Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders called for a constitutional amendment to automatically register all eligible voters during a Democratic candidate forum on Friday night.

He said he wanted to see legislative reform or “maybe even a constitutional amendment that says that everybody in America who has 18 years of age or older is registered to vote, end of discussion.”

Not enough! Let’s go all the way and make voting mandatory with election day a paid holiday for everyone, end of discussion.

  1. I’ve never understood why Election Day couldn’t at least be moved to a Saturday, thus making it easier for more people to vote.

  2. I think having the right to vote also means having the right to not vote.

If I don’t like any of the candidates, why should I be forced to choose one?

    1. You are assuming there is only one race on a ballot which is extremely unlikely. I am no t suggesting you need to vote in every race…just show up to vote. OTOH: perhaps a ‘none of the above’ choice just below the ‘write in’ line would be appropriate.

      1. For a “none of the above” vote option to be in any way effective, in the event that choice won the election, the logical next step would have to be a new contest with new people.
