This has no place in the public discourse from any American citizen much less an elected official…and particularly a Democrat. But apparently Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal took the anti-Trump resist campaign far too far.
The U.S. Secret Service is investigating a Facebook post from Missouri state Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City, in which she stated: “I hope Trump is assassinated!”
Meanwhile, Nadal’s own party sought to distance itself from the comment, with the top Senate Democrat declaring in a statement that Chappelle-Nadal “should be ashamed of herself.”
The comment, referring to President Donald Trump, has since been removed. But Chappelle-Nadal confirmed to the Post-Dispatch that she had written it in response to another commenter before deleting it.
“I didn’t mean what I put up. Absolutely not. I was very frustrated,” Chappelle-Nadal told the newspaper. “Things have got to change.”
The U.S. Secret Service’s St. Louis field office “is looking into this,” the office confirmed.
WTF? I didn’t mean to put it up? Then why in heavens name did you? This is violent and totally unacceptable behavior and I hope a more serious and aware Democrat is ready to challenge her for her state senate seat. She doesn’t deserver the privilege to serve.
