Judge Voiland: Don’t Let the Door…

After registering his candidacy for re-election, Ozaukee County Circuit Court Judge Joseph Voiland announced that he won’t seek a second term. Apparently the judge had some conflicts with his peers in the courthouse and the press as well. I am not aware of any issues with his courtroom…but his extracurricular activities raise some eyebrows.

Voiland prompted two state investigations of his courthouse peers, sued another judge over open records and has taken the first step toward suing a newspaper for libel over its coverage of it all.

As weird as that might seem, there is absolutely no excuse for any judge to utter things like this:

“Despite what the fake news media at the Journal-Sentinel and the Ozaukee Press write, my decisions in nearly 5,000 cases over the past five years have stood the test of time and have stood up on review and appeal. (emphasis mine)

or quoting scripture:

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens … Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before.” Ecclesiastes 3:1, 15.

Good bye good riddance…
