Working Families Party Weighs In On 2020 House Races

from the email inbox this morning:

The Working Families Party is thrilled to announce our first four Congressional endorsements for 2020: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib!

These four members of Congress have courageously stood up for their constituents in the face of poisonous hatred from the right wing. Now they’re not just facing Republicans in 2020, but threats of primary challenges from the corporate Democratic establishment.1 That’s why we need to come together now to have their backs.

Can you split a $5 contribution right now between the members of the Squad and the Working Families Party? With Republicans and even some corporate Democrats already looking to defeat them, we need to give them as much early grassroots support as possible.

If anyone ever tells you that your grassroots power can’t win change, tell them to look at everything the Squad has helped achieve in just a few months:

They’ve helped bring issues like the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and defunding Trump’s monstrous immigration enforcement machine into the spotlight,

They’ve fearlessly stood as moral leaders against Trump’s racist attacks even as too many of their Democratic colleagues abandoned them,

And they’ve done it all without a single cent of corporate PAC money, because they believe — like we do — that the only way to truly represent working families is to be supported by working families.

AOC, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib represent a seismic shift in our political system. That’s why they’re already facing both Republican challengers and Democratic primary threats. And that’s why we need to come together now and make sure they have the resources to take on ANY challengers in 2020.

As WFP National Director Maurice Mitchell told NBC News today, “When the resistance wins, the empire always finds a way of striking back, so we want to be prepared.”2

Split a $5 contribution today between their campaigns and the Working Families Party today. Republican candidates have already started announcing against them and they’ll need as much early support as we can muster.

In solidarity,
Team WFP
