Senator Ron Johnson, the Ukraine, and Impeachment!

We have published a number of items about Wisconsin Republican Senator Ron Johnson in the past few weeks…and how he is up to his eye balls in trouble around the Ukraine issue and his related defense of President Donald Trump. And we’ve published a number of stories about the president and how his asking for a favor of the president of the Ukraine for personal gain is an impeachable offense.

But if you’d like to see the whole Senator Johnson timeline and involvement in a nutshell, let me recommend this article that was published on line on Friday and appeared in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s print edition this morning: What you need to know about Ron Johnson, Donald Trump and the impeachment inquiry .

Key sections:

Johnson briefed Trump and why that matters

The Oval Office meeting created an ‘irregular channel’

Johnson met with a Ukrainian diplomat

Conspiracy theory has taken root with some conservatives

Trump told Johnson there was no quid pro quo

Johnson returned to Ukraine

Johnson will cooperate, but not recuse

By the way…there doesn’t need to be a quid pro quo thing. That is just a distraction. The fact that the president simply asked for a favor that was of personal (not national) advantage…is the impeachable offense.
