Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett implements curfew following damage to businesses during protests.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has announced a 9 p.m. curfew would go into effect Saturday night after 16 businesses in the city were damaged early Saturday during protests over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

The curfew will last until 7 a.m. Sunday, according to proclamation issued by Barrett late Saturday afternoon.

“All persons shall cease vehicular and pedestrian travel on the public way, streets, sidewalks and highways and return to their homes, places of work or other convenient place. Government, social services, and credentialed press acting in their official capacity are exempt from this order,” the proclamation stated.
