Virtual Presidential TV Debates Aren’t A New Idea

Apparently they’ve been around since the very first presidential TV debates. From my local paper’s Today In History feature:

In 1960, John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon held the third televised debate for their presidential campaign (Nixon was in Los Angeles , Kennedy was in New York).

emphasis mine

So it seems that a virtual televised presidential debate in 2020 wouldn’t have been a ground breaking idea.
