Today marks the 14th year anniversary for Blogging Blue. On July 1, 2007 this blog sprang into existence with my first post about then-presidential candidate Barack Obama:
To say it’s been an amazing 14 years would be a gross understatement. Because of this blog I’ve been able to see and do things I never thought I’d be able to do – I’ve gotten to meet candidates for office, sitting United States Senators, and I even got my photo taken with President Barack Obama. More importantly though, I’ve made some incredibly good friends who I’m incredibly thankful for. It’s been an amazing 14 years, and while blogs don’t seem to have the audience or impact they once had (given how many blogs have folded in the 14 years since we started), the blogging will continue.
Before I end this I just want to say two things. Firstly, I want to apologize for how sporadic I’ve been over the past few months. While I’d like to be able to promise my activity will increase, I can’t make any guarantees, though I am hopeful I’ll be more active. I also want to let you all know how thankful I am for each and every one of you who’ve continued to read and share your thoughts and opinions here. While I’d like to think the opinions we share here are important, I know what has always made Blogging Blue great is the community of readers and commenters who’ve shared their thoughts and opinions over the years. Thank you all, and here’s to another 14 years!
