WisGOP to the right of Mitch McConnell and Kay Ivey?

Mitch McConnell announced today he’s using his unspent campaign cash to purchase radio ads to be aired across Kentucky urging Kentuckians to get vaccinated. The news comes as Kentucky sees Covid-19 cases rising statewide.

In Alabama republican Governor Kay Ivey didn’t mince words at a press conference last week telling reporters ” it’s the unvaccinated folks who are letting us down “. This week, in a Washington Post op-ed, she shifted blame from the unvaccinated to calling out those who ae spreading doubt writing ” unvaccinated people are being lied to. ” From People Magazine:

In an op-ed published Tuesday in The Washington Post, the 76-year-old Republican blasted anyone who is “pushing fake news and conspiracy theories about this vaccine,” accusing them of being “reckless” and “causing great harm to people.” Ivey’s remarks also come on the heels of alarming spikes in case rates and hospitalizations in Alabama.

Last week Governor Evers urged all eligible Wisconsinites to get vaccinated as case rates continue to climb here. Just yesterday the total of daily cases reached almost 1,000, a level not seen since early April.

But the problem, of course, is that the vast majority of unvaccinated people in Wisconsin aren’t likely to listen to Tony Evers. But they might listen to Ron Johnson and Robin Vos. But, of course, RoJo is doing his best to scare people away from being vaccinated, and Vos is content to ” own the libs ” by bragging about his immune system and causing controversy on Facebook rather than announcing that he’s been vaccinated and urging others to do the same.

There’s no way to know for sure if what’s happening in Missouri, Arkansaw, Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida and Alabama is going to happen here in Wisconsin, but should we just roll the dice and hope for the best? Do we have a republican in Wisconsin with the political courage of Mitch McConnell and Kay Ivey? If so they better step up quick.
