Feingold issues statement supporting DADT repeal

Yesterday Sen. Russ Feingold issued a statement supporting efforts to repeal the U.S. military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy: “Discrimination has no place in American society, especially when it undermines our national security by hurting military readiness. At a time when our Armed Forces are stretched thin, it makes no…

Lady Gaga stands up for equality in the military

I honestly never thought I’d write anything on this blog about Lady Gaga, but her vocal support recently for repealing the U.S. military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which forces gay and lesbian service members to hide their sexual orientation lest they risk discharge from the military, has brought me…

George Will on GOP Officeholders and DADT – “They’re not being very intelligent”

Republican pundit George Will & George W. Bush’s adviser Matthew Dowd both call-out Republican officeholders for being out of touch & out of step on the repeal of DADT. I often don’t agree with George Will, but this time, I applaud his viewpoints. He had this to say in a recent television interview:

“The Supreme Court has a famous phrase they used in some opinion ‘the evolving standards of decency that mark a maturing society”. Clearly these are evolving. The case is over.”

When asked what was going on with the Republicans in Congress, George Will had this to say:

Palm Center Report on DADT Refutes Grumpy Old Troglodyte’s Views

The Palm Center Report “Gays in Foreign Militaries 2010: A Global Primer” was released today. The report refutes the negative positions being touted by General Casey, Senator McCain and others based on their prejudices towards openly gays and lesbians serving in the United States Military. Don’t Ask Don’t Tell deserves to be banished to the trash bin of useless legislation and troglodytes that don’t see it that way need to get out of their caves and read the facts on the lack of any negative consequences that military forces around the world have had with open service by gays and lesbians.

Can blogs influence the DADT debate?

Can LGBT blogs influence the national Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell debate? That’s a question asked by Simon Owens at Bloggasm.com: Last weekend, Bil Browning received an email from John Aravosis, a gay activist and blogger for AMERICAblog. Aravosis and other bloggers were organizing something called a “blog swarm,” an attempt…

Sen.
