A Cook County cemetery where hundreds of graves were dug up and allegedly resold has been declared a crime scene, meaning that relatives of people believed buried there will not be allowed to visit for several days, an official said Friday.
According to the CNN account, the number of disturbed graves totaled around 300, but officials suspect that number will rise.
I walk Historic graveyards for the History and the unique markers. I also in my travels have found other people with famous names–this is a graveyard I would walk for the History. The sad thing is this is Black-on-Black. They were robbing their own people of dignity, respect and history. The sad thing also, I have been to many graveyards, and in the South the Black graveyards are not kept up like the “white” or Hispanic graveyards. If a church owns the graveyard it is kept tidy, if it is city or town, they are mostly in despicable condition, and I have no doubts this is a fact across the country, this isn’t the only graveyard with this problem. The other thing I know for a fact, more than half these people that showed up at the graveyard because of the publicity probably haven’t been to the gravesites in years. They are pathetic losers who now because of the spotlight want to be involved in something. I certainly hope this person does some serious jail time, and people pay attention to this problem, it is more widespread than you think.

I can’t say I agree with your assertion that these people are “pathetic losers” because they haven’t been to gravesites in years. I haven’t been to my father’s gravesite in years, in large part because it’s too painful for me, and I don’t think that makes me a pathetic loser.
