Abele announces he won’t take PAC money

Milwaukee County Executive Candidate Chris Abele announced yesterday he will not accept any campaign contributions from Political Action Committees for his campaign for Milwaukee County Executive.

“I will work with Democrats and Republicans and will listen to ideas from anyone who has the best ideas on how we can create private sector jobs. But I won’t take special interest PAC money that pays for business as usual — politicians argue, services are cut and problems remain unsolved year after year,” said Abele.

Abele also challenged his fellow candidates to refuse to accept campaign contributions from PACs, but considering Abele is the only millionaire in the race – and therefore the only candidate who could presumably self-fund his campaign – something tells me his opponents don’t have the luxury of refusing to accept PAC money.

  1. I think Abele should pledge to not donate to his own campaign. That would be taking a risk and standing for something. Pledging to not take PAC money when he is not going to get any anyway is pretty disingenuous.
