Last month, extreme far-right (and that’s a gross understatement) conservative blogger Peter DiGaudio (pictured, right) wrote an entry on his blog accusing (falsely, it’s likely) lefty blogger Chris “capper” Liebenthal of not only blogging on county time, but also of using some rather indelicate language towards Peter.
As “proof” of capper’s supposed crass comments, Peter posted an image showing the comments purportedly made by capper in the moderation queue of Peter’s blog, with the IP addresses blocked out, and at the time, Peter said of capper, “My point is, the Left has demanded a new tone and civility from our side yet one of their most prominent faces in Wisconsin has no problem telling me “F*** you” and calling me a “F***ing a**hole” simply because I am calling his union out for borderline criminal behavior. I have chosen to publish the comments and let Capper’s words speak for themselves. Unfortunately, they are representative of the criminal class we are fighting both in Wisconsin and across America.”
When it was pointed out by a number of people that the comments may very well have come from someone impersonating capper (which has also happened to yours truly), Peter backtracked slightly, commenting on April 1st (emphasis mine):
Folks, I have the IP addresses but was advised by someone I trust to block them. Everything is being check. If this turns out to be someone posting as Chris, I will put up a post exonerating him.
As I said, I have nothing against him. If someone did this posting as him, he deserves a post clearing him. I would expect the same if I were in his shoes.
As I write this, there’s been no update from Peter. There’s been nothing indicating the comments were indeed made by capper, nor has there been any update confirming that the comments were indeed made from IP addresses that trace back to proxy servers, as I and others suspect they were. It’s been over a month since Peter DiGaudio accused my friend capper of posting vitriolic comments, and while I’d love to see Peter do the right thing and admit he was wrong, I’m betting he won’t, because he’d rather wrongly impugn someone’s character than admit he made a mistake, as is typical of so many right-wing bloggers here in Wisconsin (*cough* Fred Dooley *cough*).
Being Peter DeGuadio means never having to say you’re sorry. Color me unsurprised.
Being a conservative blogger means never having to say you’re sorry.
Is that hair real? It looks like a really bad hairpiece.
Not sure why people would be shocked that a union member especially a leadership position union member would use some salty language in an email when facts are being pointed out about their dishonest behavior.
And no one is “shocked” to hear you say that.
Gosh, I think I’m still banned there. I left a comment there the other regarding the delicious hiliarity of a blogger ridiculing a self-published author, but it never appeared. Peter did eventually apologize for suggesting that I should have sex with a horse. It took him a while, but he did it.
Last time I checked, and well after Osama bin Laden had been killed, the lead story on Drooley’s blog was still that God-awful story he’s had up for weeks about President Obama’s long form birth certificate being a fake.
I had posted a comment a couple of days before that saying something along the lines of, “Dude, seriously?!” Drooley deleted my comment and “re-aged” all other comments to reflect more recent posting dates than their actual posting dates. He also still hadn’t seen fit to mention bin Laden’s death or use something other than the “fake long form birth certificate” story as his lead story.
Drooley and DiGaudio are poster children for unprincipled rightwing cynicism, disingenuousness and defensiveness.
And yes, Other Side, THAT appears to be a ferret perched on his head.
Yes since fred was emailing Zach instead of commenting here, so I went to his blog to comment and he deleted my posts also. Not very secure with himself I guess.

Frankly, I think that DiGaudio’s “hair” is just the latest in a long line of rightwing “scare tactics”.

I’ve been banned from both Dooley’s and DiGaudio’s forever. Fred has no qualms at all about being dishonest. Peter is simply in need of help even though he is kind of a hairball.
