Can someone tell me what happened to the Democrat we elected president?

Yet more “leadership” from Democratic President Barack Obama, this time on EPA ozone standards:

Leaders of environmental and public health groups arrived at the White House Friday morning for what was supposed to be a look-ahead at the fall energy and environment agenda.

What they got instead was a rude awakening.

Administration officials told the stunned enviros that President Barack Obama was pulling the plug on plans to tighten Bush-era ozone standards — standards Obama’s own EPA chief has previously declared “not legally defensible.”

According to Politico’s report, the EPA was “completely blindsided” by the Obama administration’s decision to weaken ozone standards.

While President Obama hasn’t found much support for this decision among his base, he has gotten support from Republicans, with Rep. Fred Upton of Michigan saying,
“This sudden admission by President Obama that ill-considered regulations do, in fact, have a negative impact upon our economy is a welcome breakthrough.” Republican Rep. Ed Whitfield of Kentucky was also supportive of President Obama’s decision, saying, “With the president’s change of heart on regulations, we welcome his support in having our pro-jobs and pro-growth measures signed into law.”

So what I’m left to wonder is what happened to the Democrat we elected to the White House.

    1. I’m sure the rapidly increasing numbers of children with asthma will be comforted by that as they
STRUGGLE AND CHOKE TO GET AIR INTO THEIR LUNGS

lost all human perspective have ya?
Talking points and party loyalty where yer heart should be Dick? (Cheney, get it? no heart)

      1. Worried about children with asthma? The products their parents use in the house to wash/dry clothes and to clean their houses is worse for any child with asthma than any air they could be breathing outside.

Oh…and then the ever so popular firepits. Everyone who is so worried about unclean air probably love their firepits. How do you think the smoke from the firepits affects people with breathing problems? Then, you don’t care, because all that matters is your pleasure.

        1. And I imagine if the govt came after the household solutions and firepits that you are complaining about you’d be just as up in arms as you are about SMOG.

          1. Not sure what you mean, Ed. I like regulating the hell out of everything (apparently), because we can’t trust people to use their commonsense about anything. My comment was off topic from Zach’s question, but if people are concerned about children with asthma or people with other breathing problems there are things that are harming them worse right now. Unfortunately, many people don’t even know they are using harmful chemicals in their homes.

          2. BTW…my first comment wasn’t a poke at Annie K. and I hope it doesn’t read that way. I am pissed about all the poisons we are sold and are told they are safe, when, in fact, they are not.

The firepit comment is just a pet peeve of mine. Nothing like leaving your windows open and having your neighbor fire up their pit and having smoke consume your house before you can get your windows shut.

            1. I don’t understand why fire pits aren’t prohibited under existing open fire ordinances…if I buy a fire pit contraption, can I go back to burning my trash in the back yard?

  1. Me and two of my friends are so disgusted and disillusioned with both Barack Obama and various short-sighted and also “ill-considered” behaviors of our State Democratic party (ALL WHILE CLAIMING LOUDLY TO BE THE ADULTS IN THE ROOM) that we do not intend to vote for the foreseeable future. I suspect I will actually go into the voting booth out of “social convenience” meaning, I have a very close relative who would NOT UNDERSTAND me “throwing away my vote”…but, it’s already thrown away and worse – it validates bad behavior. But I just don’t wanna see the person feel hurt and confused, and I don’t wanna argue about anything (in real life I do not go around picking fights, you all deserve it, they don’t)
So I’ll probably end up faking it in the voting booth, or just voting for one tiny insignificant non-partisan-if-you-can-find-it office. Which is WEIRD!!!! very weird.

and the State Dems won’t give a damn how many people like me they lose (They don’t seem to care about Independents at all) because the Teacher Drama brought in a bunch of new immature and poorly informed “blood” eager to fit in and conform without too much real thinking. Yeah I said that, I mean it. Yo Kos! U izza Kindergarten of Conformity populated by pseudo-rebels livin’ off checks from Mom and Dad!!
so if older voters become marginalized (oh but that’s all the REPUBLICAN’S DOING!) they won’t give a tinker’s cuss.

Yesterday the 3 of us also had a serious discussion about how totally fed up we are with “Feedings” from the media that just inflame and re-enforce harshly delineated delusions of reality. There is NO “adult” consideration of issues, no real talk of solutions JUST shredding and tearing of the other side in a bloody team sport attitude. We really are at a loss to find a News Source that is not corrupted or at least tragically tainted. And if you choose to watch one of the news sources that is of the tragically tainted variety, what good it that? at some point you’ll cross over into “what you wanna hear Land” yourself. Then why bother? No one can be that vigilant. You may as well read fiction. These ARE fictions.

I’m sure we’re not the only ones, on either “side” that feel this way. But I’m sure the rocket scientists who are making decisions all know what “is best for us” and will remain unyielding.

There is no Public Input in the process. I repeat – no public input. The party decides what reality is, based on dumb polls and “strategists” (all of whom come from a particular economic bracket and attitude) and then they hammer it and hammer it, and get a few parrots to repeat what they have pre-ordained. You can scream about what you as a citizen are experiencing and there are no ears to hear. They do not care. They want cheerleaders to their greatness and omniscience.

The Democratic party wouldn’t know democracy if it bit it in the ass. Ditto Republicans. I’m about to check out for good, I’ve checked out before but always some big “drama issue” fools me into thinking “this time a popular movement will have an effect, citizens are needed” or feelings of that sort. The party just takes that “populism”, says “thanks kids, we’ll take it from here” Uses The American people’s panic and outrage like Battery Chargers, their side gets a bit of a leg-up, and then it’s Business As Usual with a vengeance.

Quite a few people use political involvement as a hobby and as a ready socializing structure in a world where it’s getting harder to meet people, to have an adult “social circle”. I’m not one of those, that annoys me no end, it drives the parties too much IMO. This is not a sewing circle or a bowling team people!!! But whatever.
Fool me once, twice, 3000 times, shame on you. At some point – the shame of being duped is on me. I think we’re about there.
This, ladies and germs, is a farce.

    1. That’ll show ’em.

No whims politicians (or parties) bend to more than those of people who don’t vote.

      (note sarcasm)

    2. So you would settle for President Perry? Because that’s EXACTLY how they want you to react.

Look, I don’t like the President’s decision, either. But he’s between a rock and a hard place. That’s politics, and it sucks.

But you have to remember one crucial thing, and that is that the Republicans are counting on you to get pissed off and not vote. Because, since they know you won’t vote for them, sitting out is in fact, a vote for them. Don’t let them win. President Obama is still better for this country than any of those clowns.

      1. And while I’m here, I am compelled to remind everyone just what exactly is at stake, and it’s the Supreme Court. Let a Republican get elected and you can say goodbye to the Constitution. And that’s the little secret the GOP is doing all it can to get you to forget.

        1. I agree with Rich completely, but let me add one thing. The way to push Obama is NOt have a primary challenger, the way to push him is send him people in congress who will push him.

We in WI are very guilty of this as we screwed up and sent him the intellectual lightweight ROJO. In a sports analogy is Bielema a better coach with russel wilson as his QB or Nate Tice? Give him more to work with and he will be more progressive.

  2. That’s easy. He never existed. It was a mirage.

That being said… I’ll vote for him again the next time. Because the alternative is worse.

But… no more after that! Because we will ALL hound the next Dem BEFORE s/he gets elected to make damn sure we aren’t being fooled again.

    1. The fault lies with those people identifying themselves as “conservatives” who think that rich, white people deserve every break they can get and the rest of us can go fuck ourselves.

  3. Once again as I stated: He never existed. I chose him because he was the lesser of the two evils.

I’m going to be voting for him again for that very reason.
