Absent from that video is any admonition by Donald Trump against the act of violence perpetrated against the protester by one of Trump’s supporter.
There is no excuse for the violence, but people really should condemn trying to disrupt rallies or outright trying to block people from getting to them. That is not protesting; that is attacking free speech.
This is a case where I don’t think anyone is in the right. Protesting nearby is one thing. Going in to outright disrupt the ability of another to speak is another. I’m not speaking about this incident in particular. I just think outright blocking people from attending or outright disrupting the actual rallies is an attack on free speech, and no one should get a pass for doing that even if it’s no excuse for the more vicious Trump supporters.
