Thanks to CNN.com and YouTube, I found this little gem, courtesy of Oklahoma State Rep. Sally Kern:
Now what floored me about Rep. Kern’s comments – besides her blatant bigotry – is the fact that she has the unmitigated gall to preface her remarks with the comment, “I’m not anti…uhh….I’m not gay-bashing” (the disclaimer comes about 16 seconds into the clip). Now I don’t know about you, but in my world prefacing a blatantly anti-gay tirade with a disclaimer that you’re not “gay-bashing” is pure, unadulterated hypocrisy. Now sure, Rep. Kern has the right to express her hatred of homosexuals however she so chooses, but she should at least have the decency to not attempt to paint herself as not being anti-gay while doing so. After all, it’s kinda hard to not be anti-gay if you’re publicly labeling gays as being a bigger threat to the U.S. than terrorists.
It’s God’s Word. You can’t argue with that.
Why do I feel compelled to apologize? I grew up in Oklahoma. I suppose someone here could make the same statement.
Good grief, why doesn’t anything surprise me anymore?
I wish I could just make stuff up that is as good as that, but as usual reality wins the prize.
