Next week Friday, October 16, the veterans of Operation FREE are going on a bus tour and will be stopping in La Crosse, Madison and Milwaukee.
Operation FREE is a coalition of leading Veterans and national security organizations who recognize that climate change is a major threat, and support fast, bold action. Operation FREE is combating a serious threat to our nation’s safety: our over-reliance on fossil fuels and the major security problems caused by climate change. Operation FREE is working to put aside politics in order to create cheap, domestic, renewable energy.
The leadership of Operation FREE includes the the Truman National Security Project, the National Security Initiative, and VoteVets.org.
Let me get this straight — Operation FREE is combating our over-reliance on fossil fuels and climate change by driving a bus around the State? Is it a hybrid electric or propane-burning bus?
Jill, I have it on good authority that the buses are biodeisel and they are buying carbon offsets as well.
This from the campaign:
Just in case any of you were wondering, both of Operation FREE buses are biodiesel-capable. We’ve also purchased carbon offsets so that our tour is carbon neutral, putting our money where our mouth is.
To date, we’ve traveled to Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota along the Northern route. The Southern route has made it through Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa. And we’re not traveling alone — press has been following our journey at every step, with coverage from the Politico, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Bismarck Tribune, Helena Independent Record, Lincoln Star Journal and the Billings Gazette!
Thanks for the update, xoff. I had planned on posting the same info you got, but you beat me to it.
