Jeff Wood flip-flops

Remember how State Rep. Jeff Wood expressed remorse after he was arrested for OWI and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia? Remember how Rep. Wood said he wouldn’t hire an attorney or fight the charges?

Well, apparently now that Rep. Wood’s come to the realization his political career is on the line, he’s changed his position – flip-flopped if you will – and is now saying he’s planning on hiring an attorney. As Dan Bice is reporting, Rep. Wood has backed off his statement that he wouldn’t hire an attorney or fight the charges against him:

“You know what – I don’t want to comment on all these prior things,” Wood said. “You can speak to my attorney.”

Wait a second. Didn’t he state publicly that he wouldn’t be hiring a lawyer?

OK, so he’s changed his mind. Happens all the time.

Who’s he got representing him?

“I haven’t hired anyone yet,” he said, “but I will.”

So much for not fighting the charges or hiring an attorney…stay classy Jeff Wood; stay classy!

  1. Don’t begrudge him access to counsel. Let’s just be grateful that it’s still an option after the last eight years. He’ll get the punishment he has coming without us chiding him for execising a basic American right.

Yes. He flipped. Right now, that’s not his worst sin.

    1. grumps, I’m not begrudging Rep. Wood his right to counsel; I just wish he would have been honest when he first issued a statement. He has a right to counsel just like everyone else, but if he intended on hiring an attorney to fight the charges, he should have said so from the get-go.
