Mayor Tom Barrett will strut the runway this spring.
It’s for a good cause, too. Barrett and his wife, Kris, as well as Kenya Bell, wife of Milwaukee Bucks player Charlie Bell, and former TV reporter Julie Feldman will take part in “Awear,” the fifth annual fashion event to benefit Sojourner Family Peace Center.
The Thursday night event begins with a cocktail reception at 5 p.m. and the runway show at 7:45 p.m. at the Harley-Davidson Museum, 400 W. Canal St. Featured fashions will be on loan from Miss Groove, Stephanie Horne, m.e. Lou, Shoo, Suiters, Detour, Harley-Davidson and Aala Reed.
Tickets are $95 per person, available until noon Wednesday at (414) 643-1777.
Proceeds will benefit Sojourner Family Peace Center’s programs to eliminate domestic violence in the Milwaukee area, including the shelter, the 24-hour Domestic Violence Hotline and the Batterers Anonymous – Beyond Abuse program.
As someone who’s worked closely with the folks at the Sojourner Family Peace Center, I can say without reservation they’re an organization worth supporting.
