…after all, at least our governor isn’t proposing selling our state’s landmarks, as is the case in California.
In order to help close California’s budget shortfall, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has proposed selling properties owned by the state of California – properties that range from the San Quentin state prison and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum to the Orange County Fairgrounds and and the Del Mar Fairgrounds, home to the Surfside Race Place. Considering the sorry state of California’s correctional system, I find it hard to believe Gov. Schwarzenegger would find much support for selling San Quentin prison, and the rest of his proposal to sell state-owned properties seems equally outlandish, not to mention short-sighted.
So as dire as Wisconsin’s budget shortfall is, I think we can all be glad we don’t live in California.
