It seems like every time Rep. Michele Bachmann opens her mouth, she says something really crazy. Speaking at a gathering sponsored by the Independence Institute in Denver on Monday, Rep. Bachmann delivered a speech calling on opponents of health care reform to slit their wrists (emphasis mine):
“This [health care reform] cannot pass…What we have to do today is make a covenant, to slit our wrists, be blood brothers on this thing. This will not pass. We will do whatever it takes to make sure this doesn’t pass…Right now, we are looking at reaching down the throat and ripping the guts out of freedom. And we may never be able to restore it if we don’t man up and take this one on.”
Yeah, I bet the folks in her district are proud of Rep. Bachmann.
A point Rep. Bachmann may have missed…
After slitting our wrists in blood brother solidarity we need health insurance to get the stitches for our wrists….and I won’t even touch what it would cost out of pocket to repair reaching down our throats, etc. :0
She’s just one of the guys…
Normally I get annoyed when one side preaches about the problem with the other guys (Dems saying, the problem with the Republican party & vice versa) but I think say I think Dan Savage hit the nail on the head particularly well with this one:
I should have been more clear – I don’t mean when either party criticizes the other’s position on issues, that’s the way it should be. I think it’s stupid, and obviously disingenuous when they criticize the way the operate, strategy, etc.
