Speaking at the Future Wisconsin conference this weekend, Republican Representative Tom Petri of the 6th district made his case for marriage, even if the marriage is troubled:
“We know that even a troubled marriage with two parents is better for children,” Petri said.
I understand Rep. Petri’s attempt to promote family values, but how can he honestly say a “troubled” marriage is better than no marriage? After all, would a marriage troubled by domestic violence, and/or alcohol/drug use really be a good thing, especially if children are involved?
H/T to the Recess Supervisor.
