- Republican U.S. Senate candidate Terrence Wall is kicking off his U.S. Senate campaign with an announcement tour today and tomorrow. I can’t help but wonder if any of the enterprising reporters covering the events will bother to ask Wall why he hasn’t paid any Wisconsin state income taxes in four of the past five years.
- Speaking of campaign kickoffs, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett began his statewide campaign yesterday with stops in La Crosse, Eau Claire and Wausau as part of Barrett’s Wisconsin Jobs Tour.
- NBA player Gilbert Arenas plead guilty to illegally possessing an unlicensed handgun in the District of Columbia, a charge stemming from a locker-room incident last month. Arenas could receive up to 5 years in prison when he’s sentenced in March, and I’m hoping he gets some prison time when he’s sentenced, because he clearly hasn’t taken this entire incident very seriously.
- The Wisconsin State Senate will debate a bill today that would require third-party groups that try to influence elections to release the names of their donors. The bill proposed would require groups that run such ads within 60 days of an election to abide by the same disclosure requirements as candidates.
- Ron Motta, an acquaintance of mine, has an excellent write-up on the late-night mess at NBC that led to Jay Leno’s reinstatement as the host of “The Tonight Show,” with Conan O’Brien being shown the door.
