Remember how excited conservatives were when Republican Scott Brown was elected to the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts? Folks in the Tea Party hailed Brown’s election as a sign of tremendous voter discontent with the status quo, and Brown’s victory was hailed as a victory for all those small government Tea Party folks.
Clearly, that enthusiasm has waned now that Sen. Brown has started casting votes in the Senate, as right-wing squawker Glenn Beck is attacking Brown as being a progressive for Brown’s vote in favor of a jobs bill that is essentially a tax cut for small businesses. While I can certainly understand why an ultra-conservative like Glenn Beck would be upset that Scott Brown’s not as conservative as folks thought, the fact that Scott Brown wasn’t a far-right “Tea Party” conservative shouldn’t have come as a shock to anyone, as I pointed out shortly after Brown was elected.
