My 2010 predictions in review

I’ll be the first to admit I’m no Nostradamus. For the second year in a row, I made a series of predictions for 2010, and I figured I’d take a moment to look at how well (or poorly) I did with those predictions.

  1. Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will be the next governor for the state of Wisconsin, defeating Scott Walker by a margin of 51% to 49%. Yep, that was wishful thinking.
  2. Sen. Russ Feingold will cruise to reelections against Republican Terrence Wall, winning by a margin of 54% to 46%. Not only did Sen. Feingold not face Terrance Wall in the general, he didn’t cruise to reelection.
  3. Super Bowl XLIV will pit the Indianapolis Colts against the Philadelphia Eagles, with the Colts defeating the Eagles. While I was right that the Colts would make the Super Bowl, I was wrong about their opponent and the outcome.
  4. The Milwaukee Brewers will improve upon last season’s record, winning 86 games but still falling short of making the playoffs. What I meant to say was that the Brewers would improve upon their record in 2010 for the 2011 season…..no really, that’s what I meant!
  5. Despite 2010 shaping up to be a bad year for incumbents, Democrats will maintain their majorities in both the House and the Senate, though they’ll have decidedly smaller margins with which to work in both chambers. Well, at least I was half right…
  6. Milwaukee’s homicide numbers will continue to stay near 20-year lows, despite Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn leaving Milwaukee for greener pastures. Rep. Gwen Moore will easily win reelection to the House, beating Republican challenger Dan Sebring by a margin of 65% to 35%. Rep. Moore did easily win reelection, but I underestimated her margin of victory, as she actually won with just over 69% of the vote.
  7. Not one liberal blogger will attend the “nonpartisan” Cheddarsphere Christmas party being held Sunday, January 3rd. I was right on the money with this one…
  8. Here in Cudahy, Mayor Ryan McCue will barely win reelection, defeating challenger Tony Day 50.3% to 49.7%. Wrong.
  9. And last (but certainly not least), I’ll finally do the Polar Bear plunge. At least I got this one right…

    1. Not sure, but I’m assuming sometime in the next week.

No doubt I’ll be wrong on most of those as well, as has been my history in all the years I’ve made predictions.

  1. here’s one sure thing for next years predictio
Wisconsin’s own marriage expert, Lt. Gov Kleefisch will see her own marriage end!!

Seems she pulled a Vukmir and fell for a staffer!!!

  2. You should put a list of topics up and have us all give predictions and see who gets the most right.

  3. Another one of the great Zach Wisniewski’s 2010 predictions fall. The Colts get their butts handed to them by the Jets.

As Meat Loaf once sang, “One Out of Ten Ain’t Bad.” Wait, maybe that was “Two out of Three,”… Oh, well…

Why anyone would ever consider you an authority on anything is beyond comprehension, Zach. You don’t have to like it, but the truth has spoken, yet again. Deal with it.

    1. Uh, you’re just a litte late there, friend. Superbowl XLIV was played almost a year ago, and I noted in my post that I was wrong about the prediction.

By the way…I can’t help but wonder what rock you crawled out from under. I’m guessing Badger Blogger, because you remind me of the type that frequents that pit.
