After this weekend\'s shooting spree in AZ, there has been much speculation as to what could of helped to spark it, or if we need better gun laws in the US. After the the insanity and violent rhetoric of the last election from the right, that resulted in a coordinated effort from the right wing media to deflect the attention. This even led to Sarah Palin, playing the part of the cat who ate the canary, giving a 10 minute ramble on why she isnt guilty.
While the CYA of the Republican party has been interesting to watch, in the meantime, real world reality set in. Today
four Arizona republicans resigned out of fear of the tea party.
As the District Republican chairman said: ‘I don’t want to take a bullet for anyone’. So its great for Glenn beck to tell us they had nothing to do with it, or for Sarah Palin to scrub her website and claim innocent, but real people are really scared for their life.
Shame on the republican party!!!
Keep telling yourself that NOTA…in the meantime google Stochastic Terrorism….
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2011/1/10/934890/-Stochastic-Terrorism:-Triggering-the-shooters
I looked up Stochastic Terrorism and I see its all the buzz on left wing blogs and websites it’s just another attempt of the left to try and tie in the shootings of a madmen with tea party/conservatives, will only mean something to the left the rest of teh country knows better.
Its not just the loon from AZ there are others and we all know it. Even if the corporate media refuses to tie them all together…

Hey PP, shame on the liberals! They sure are getting a lot of political mileage off of this tragedy. First they tried to blame talk radio, then guns, now the laterst I heard is that since the guy was unbalanced, the liberals are using that to say Republicans shouldn’t try to repeal Obamacare because of the mental health parity! SHAMEFUL.
That is what liberals do with all tragedies, they try to use them for political gain, they just keep tossing out stuff in hopes it will catch on with the general public. They tried to make the shooting last week a political shooting, but 58% of the country said it was a random act of violence, so they backed away from that charge when only 28% felt the same way about the issue, political. Liberals do everything based on emotions, they seem to lack the basic reasoning skills to look adjectively at situations its why you really never know how they stand on issues.
They say its because of conservatives, I guess this doe snot count because it was one of their own. Threats were posted on Madisons Craig’s List by someone pointing their finger at conservatives saying they’re to blame for the recent Arizona shooting. The post apparently named, five other Republican Wisconsin Conservatives, including the Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and Senator Ron Johnson. But hey liberals are angels they never resort to anger or violence only evil conservatives do.
Says the guy who never actually showed a sign of pity for the victims instead attacking liberals on this blog before it was pointed out to him.
Actually T I did show pity on the the On Jan 9 I posted http://notalib.wordpress.com/2011/01/09/american-tragedy/ but the discussion here from day on was an attack again conservatives not pity for the victims or families
I usually don’t look at your blog, so I apologize for saying that.
Honestly? When it comes down to it the shooter who did this doesn’t strike so much as Fox News or Sarah Palin as Alex Jones. But that’s a whole other issue.
And honestly? If it was an actual threat? I want people to look into it.
I don’t want anyone getting shot for their political beliefs, it’s wrong. It’s like how I see some liberals say to ’round up the tea party members and lock them away’. Nobody should be imprisoned for their political beliefs.
I don’t like many of the Republicans now in power in Wisconsin, but if they’re to be removed they should be removed legally.
Just because 58% of the country think its a random acto f violence does not make it so, all it shows is the incredible success of the right wing echo chambers efforts.
I keep trying to figure out what makes rojo and kleefisch, et al conservatives?
And just because 28% think it was conservatives does not make it so and guess what it isn’t, better find a new angle to try and make conservatives look evil this one has failed big time.
Eric Fuller, disabled veteran and Tucson shooting survivor said this on Democracy Now this morning: ” It looks like Palin, Beck, Sharron Angle and the rest got their first target. Their wish for Second Amendment activism has been fulfilled”.
Considering Democracy Now is a far left extremist media outlet it is no surprise by this so called ‘report’.
Fuller apparently wrote these thoughts down while he was in the hospital last Saturday. He must have known Amy Goodman would want to interview him?
Really? Last Saturday? Odd because earlier this week, in an interview with CBS News, Fuller didn’t go as far to point fingers. Instead, he called the shooter, Jared Loughner, a “madman.”
“I hadn’t ever had any kind of trauma experience at that level before,” he told CBS. “And I didn’t know — I didn’t quite know how to react. I felt like we were in for more, and possibly to be given a coup de grace by this madman that was so vigorously exercising his Second Amendment rights.”
But now all of the sudden he has some out with a different version, would have nothing to do that he is a democrat and is now just following the party line on this would it? No I did not think so….hahahahahaha
How is a different version if he said it before he said what quoted?
Just saying.
One day he was blaming the shooter after he had a chance to see the media reports and the offcial party line on these he went in that direction.
Except you know, he said that right on the day of the shooting. The specific one on Saturday above that Steve Carlson quoted.
Now you attack fuller after he’s been shot? Jesus Christ.
Not attacking him at all, I hope for a speedy recovery for him. However it was YOU who brought him into the discussion and used him to try and justify your point, by doing so YOU made HIM part of the discuysssion NOT me…but nice try to make me look like the guily one here.
Jesus Christ. Jesus H Christ.
Ok Steve you tell me then why did you post it if not for the reason I stated above. I await your explanation.
Notalib,
I really want to apologize to you and the other conservatives on this blog. I just watched the Glenn Beck show and it turns out that Frances Fox Piven was indirectly responsible for the shooting in Tucson. My bad.
SO you never replied WHY you posted the comment you did, we all know why you did it but thats ok if you want to hide…..btw did you see this?
J. Eric Fuller, has been charged with threats & intimidation and disorderly conduct. Guess he missed the memo that liberals are non violent……haahahahah
Ha! The topic here was how public servants are afraid to do their job because of violent discourse in this country and it has devolved into, “You did it” no “You did it”. I just wonder how much money is being made off of all this disagreement, vitriol and finger pointing. You are no longer able to call out a lie for fear that ‘you’ and not the liar is the guilty party. Who makes money off that?
Ya know what I did during the whole “Burn the Qur’an” business, I went out and bought The Holy Qur’an because I wanted to use my $ to show support for Muslims. How many people have spent $ on Sarah Palin books, not because they want to read them, but want to support her. She is very wealthy now, and by her toning down the rhetoric her fan base would only go buy her book when they could afford it, instead of buying it to make a statement, like I did.
Step back people, take a breath, and decide if what you want to do with the rest of the day is argue about who’s fault it is, or whether there is a way to stop it. Just because this started out a violent country and just because it has been violent for hundreds of years, does that make it necessary that it must be forevermore violent?
I can see why you want to by the quran ans support the faith, from the book I especially like the part where it says its ok to beat the wife, what a wonderful religion you support.
“Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband’s) absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) beat them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all),” (4:34).
Let me try this again…the point of buying The Holy Qur’an was not to read it, follow it or to turn into a Muslim, but to support a group of people that I thought were being persecuted unjustly. The example I gave was to show that they got my money in protest of the burning…the same way Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh make more money from their followers by keeping hate alive. If they tone down the rhetoric they WILL NOT sell as many book. Where their fans will now go 3,4,5 books just to show support as I did with The Holy Qur’an (which is sitting on the shelf next to the The Holy Bible I don’t read or believe in either) without the buying in support or protest they will only buy ONE.
Come on Notalib, you know what I am talking about…it is what you are doing to me right now. You attack and I answer back. You want to make me look bad so you can make yourself look good. So lets just say you look good and let it go at that…lol. You got me! You win in this game of mirrors. (Wait a minute if this is a game of mirrors, doesn’t that mean if I tell you that you win I actually win and we go around again.) I am tired of your games especially when they get people killed.
Why do I think you define “hate” as any opposition to disagreement with the “correct” positions of the Obama administration and liberalism in general.
Mary, where were you talking about liberals toning down their rhetoric during the Bush years?
You also can’t magically support a group of people by buying a book.
Is the only way to get the attention of the modern day conservative to insult them and call them names? Why should I have to stoop so low to get my point across…I am not going to do it by the way! Again the point I was trying to make was that Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are making TONS of money off their rhetoric and they will not stop until people stop buying into their lies.
When George Bush was elected I don’t remember the hate flying at him at the speed of light like it did the day President Obama was elected. When President Bush stood on the pile of rubble after 9-11 I loved my President. It wasn’t until he started a war with a country that had nothing to do with 9-11 that I started to get angry. And then when he was the first President ever to cut taxes while waging 2 wars…that was a sure plan of disaster. Yes I didn’t like President Bush at all after Iraq, but I gave the guy a chance. President Obama wasn’t even elected yet before the horrible smears began..”Pallin’ around with terrorists”. We hated President Bush for a reason, you hated Obama because…you didn’t even wait for him to start legislating!
I think you lovely republican have succeeded in your mission. Another diversion tactic, just like in the Bush years…look over here so I don’t have to talk about what is happening over there. How much discussion was there in this thread about how public officials are quitting because of the rhetoric. What is that doing to our democracy?
Now for something we all can agree on: THE PACKERS ARE GOING TO THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!
1. What are these lies you keep talking about
2. I have never hated Obama I hated the agenda he laid out during his campaign and hated just about everything he has done since being in the White House. This is where you liberals are so wrong the dislike is not for the man but for his policies. Its important for you to make it always about race, when race is NOT this issue, a man with no experience and no business being president is the issue
Christianity is older than Islam, and actually has worse things in it if you read it and study it. It’s a reason why a lot of people say now days not to use the Bible as a guide book because there are a ton of things against women in it. So please, let’s not go and bash one religion when Christianity is actually even more outdated and in fact the the women have more rights in the religion of Islam.
Only in the recent years, when women began to gain human rights is when we started pushing aside those views in the Bible. I have to ask you – have you read the bible? Not just the pages they tell you turn to, but actually read it fully? There’s a lot of outdated information, it’s different from book to book due to different translations, and the Holy Qur’an is the same way which is why there are so many multiple sects in religion.
Besides, if I wanted to put up extremism I could easily put up all these right wing militias, Fred Phelps, or the KKK which held a huge degree of power before one of the leaders went absolutely bonkers and raped a woman to death biting into her skin cannibalizing her so she died days afterward. Those were all Christian based as well. And keep in mind, I’m saying this as a Christian.
Basically, what Christianity, Judaism, and Islam have in common are they’re all Abrahamic Religions meaning they emphasize and trace their common origin to Abraham or recognizing a spiritual tradition identified with Abraham. These three religions have been intertwined throughout their histories and inextricably linked to one another because of a ‘family likeness’ and a certain commonality in theology: all three are monotheistic, and conceive God to be a transcendent Creator-figure and the source of moral law.
Basically, if we go by the books? Islam of them actually give the most rights to women and human rights for that matter. While Judaism gives the least. However even all these religions have their different sects and interpretations.
Given honestly anyone who follows it quite literally now days is going to be relatively awkward. I mean check these out:
Not exactly something you want to follow now days, is it?
Overall honestly, when it comes to Judaism, Christianity, Islam, I think it’s important to note they were also written a thousand years ago when men had a huge superiority over women. (That’s why many women often didn’t make history books compared to men.)
Now days, modern Islam, Christianity, and Judaism treats them differently, except for say extremists – which exist in every faction of life.
Know what the difference is T, the Christian faith no longer follows such barbaric practices where as the Muslim religion still believes that stoning of women is acceptable practice.
Will there be equal outrage about what this union has done.
