Though I haven’t been focusing a lot of time and energy on the Wisconsin Supreme Court race, I’d be remiss if I didn’t take a moment to voice my support for Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg, who’s running for the seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court currently held by Justice David Prosser.
Here’s five reasons why I’ll be voting for JoAnne Kloppenburg on April 5:
- While Justice Prosser promised to act as a complement (rubber stamp) to Gov. Scott Walker and the Republican-controlled legislature, JoAnne Kloppenburg has stated she’ll decide cases on the facts and the law, not based on political ideology.
- While Justice Prosser would preserve a conservative majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, JoAnne Kloppenburg would give the Supreme Court a less conservative bent.
- A vote for David Prosser is a vote for the far-right agenda of Scott Walker and Scott Fitzgerald.
- As Outagamie County District Attorney, David Prosser took it easy on a pedophile priest in 1979. That priest, John Patrick Feeney, went on to abuse more children before finally being sent to jail in 2004.
- Unlike Prosser, who has actively courted support from “Tea Party” groups in Wisconsin, JoAnne Kloppenburg hasn’t been courting support by touting her own personal political ideology.
I’ll be voting for JoAnne Kloppenburg on April 5, and I hope you will too.
