Walker visit causes town’s population to temporarily double

On Saturday evening Gov. Scott Walker – who was flanked by law enforcement – spoke at an invitation-only Republican fundraiser in Washburn and was greeted by at least 2,000 angry protesters outside. Bayfield County Sheriff Paul Susienka confirmed there were not any incidents or arrests during the protest, and given estimates that there were between 2,000 and 5,000 protesters, the town of Washburn’s population was doubled – and possibly tripled – with protesters voicing their disapproval of Gov. Walker.

The fact that between 2,000 and 5,000 people showed up in Washburn, WI on a Saturday to protest Gov. Scott Walker’s attack on public employees says something about the strength of the movement in opposition to Gov. Walker’s attack on public employees.
